Karen was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Growing up, she was exposed to the unique and wonderous beauty of Native American art. This exposure fostered her interest in the traditions and expertise of local artists. Her mission for Southwestern Silver is to share the exceptional skills of the Native artisans working in New Mexico with others who are looking for handmade and traditional work.

She has a Master’s Degree in Art History, and understands the importance of preserving and promoting Indigenous arts. Guided by her respect for cultural authenticity, Karen dedicated herself to working closely with Native artisans, fostering special partnerships built on trust and respect of the processes used for creating traditional pieces.
